Ohio AG Opens $9 Million in School Safety Grants

Districts can apply now for funding to support training, assessments, technology, and equipment that enhance student and staff safety. Applications, which are generally first-come, first-served close May 29, 2026.

Ohio schools can now apply for a share of $9 million in safety grants for the 2026-27 academic year, announced last week by Attorney General Dave Yost.

Funding Uses:

School resource officer training
Active-shooter or mental-health trainings
Safety assessments
Safety equipment or technology (panic alarms, camera access, gunshot detection)
And much more!

Available Grants:

Formula-Based: $2,500 or $4.50 per student
Program-Based: Up to $40,000
Funds are first-come, first-served; apply by May 29, 2026.
