Districts Maintain Energy Cost Stability through a Volatile Winter

OSC’s Natural Gas and Power4Schools programs provided districts with stable pricing and trusted market guidance throughout the winter months.

This winter brought colder temperatures and an unpredictable energy market, but school districts participating in OSC utility programs experienced stability through fixed, competitive pricing made possible by their collective purchasing power.

Through the OSC Natural Gas Program, Ohio school districts combine their buying power to secure favorable natural gas pricing and reduce exposure to volatile market swings. Similarly, the Power4Schools Electricity Program, a partnership between the Ohio Schools Council, BASA, OASBO, and OSBA, helps participating districts manage electricity costs while navigating complex energy markets with confidence.

Beyond competitive pricing, OSC supports its members with transparency and trusted expertise. Districts benefit from energy audits, legal support, PUCO rate case reviews, rebate opportunities, and ongoing market guidance. Together, these services help ensure districts have a reliable partner and predictable energy costs when it matters most.
