Shared Savings, Stronger Schools: OSC Delivers $57 Million in Impact

Across Ohio, school districts are finding new ways to stretch their budgets, and the Ohio Schools Council is leading the charge.

Through the power of cooperative purchasing and shared services, OSC programs have delivered more than $57 million in total member savings across FY23 and FY24.

These savings include over $38 million through Energy Programs, $17 million through Non-Energy Programs, and $2 million in rebates and refunds, proof that collaboration pays off.

But the value goes well beyond the balance sheet. By simplifying procurement, reducing administrative workload, and connecting districts with trusted vendors and programs, the OSC helps schools focus on what matters most: supporting students and staff.

Districts are reinvesting these dollars into classroom technology, facility upgrades, and expanded learning opportunities. From long-term energy savings to immediate operational efficiencies, the results are both measurable and meaningful.

“Being a member of the OSC has been a tremendous asset. We’ve saved over $1.1 million by utilizing OSC programs, funds we can reinvest into our students, staff, and community. In times like these, every dollar counts.”

— Tracy Wheeler, Superintendent, Berea City Schools

Top performers across the state are setting the bar high:

Cleveland Heights–University Heights City Schools led all districts with more than $1.3 million in total savings.
Lordstown Local Schools and Campbell City Schools topped the list for highest savings per student, each averaging $525 saved per student.
• New members such as Northwest Local Schools (Stark County) and McDonald Local Schools are already realizing six-figure returns in their first year of participation.

Together, these results underscore the power of shared success. OSC’s member-driven approach is transforming cost savings into tangible progress, strengthening schools, supporting communities, and expanding opportunities for students across Ohio.

As we look ahead, the OSC remains committed to helping districts do more with less, building strong partnerships, creating new efficiencies, and delivering the trusted support schools need to thrive.

Learn more about these results and explore new member success stories in the upcoming 2024-25 OSC Annual Report coming out later this month.
