Building for the Future: Why Capital Improvement Matters

From assessment to implementation, OSC is here to help.

At the recent OSC Business Network Meeting, OSC emphasized the importance of a clear Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) to guide long-term facility maintenance and upgrades. A well-designed CIP helps leaders prioritize needs, align funding, and communicate timelines and costs so projects are proactive rather than reactive.

Fanning Howey, an OSC preferred partner, offered practical first steps, such as conducting facility assessments, setting priorities linked to safety and learning, and phasing the work within a multi-year funding strategy.

OSC and its partners support districts through the entire CIP process, from assessing the needs, structuring the plan, coordinating partners and aligning the projects with various funding sources, including grants.
