EPA Academic Institution Grant
Public and private K-12 schools, colleges, and universities can apply for funding to support various recycling initiatives. This includes outreach and education programs, purchasing recycling equipment, and sponsoring conferences. Additionally, funds are available for projects that utilize ground tire rubber in beneficial ways.
Please note that projects using scrap tires for civil engineering or construction require a 100% funding match, while most other project categories only require a 25% match. Grantees have 24 months to complete their projects, but they may choose to close out the grant earlier than the specified deadlines with no penalty, provided it aligns with the grant timeline.
When are applications accepted?
Ohio EPA will accept applications October 6, 2025, through December 5, 2025. Grants are awarded on an annual basis and will be awarded on April 1, 2026. The application process for this funding program is highly competitive.
