Yost Offers Nearly $11 Million in Grant Funds to Enhance School Safety

The grants will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, making prompt submission of applications a key consideration. No applications will be considered after May 30, 2025.

Eligible entities are able to apply for two grants:

A formula-based grant of $2,500 or $4.50 per student, whichever amount is greater.
A project-based grant of up to $40,000 per district, regardless of the number of students.

The grant funding is intended to provide school leaders with flexibility in determining how best to improve student safety. Eligible uses of the funding include:

  • Certification training for school resource officers.
  • Active-shooter response training or equipment.
  • Educational resources for all grade levels.
  • Training to identify and assist students with mental-health issues.
  • School supplies or equipment related to safety or implementation of a school-safety plan.
  • Systems allowing immediate camera access to responding law enforcement officers.
  • Silent panic alarms.
  • Gunshot-detection technology.
  • License-plate reader alerts for vehicles belonging to registered sex offenders.
  • Alert systems warning of wanted dangerous individuals.
  • Other training related to school safety.

2025 COPS Office School Violence Prevention Program (SVPP) Grant

Up to $73 million in funding is available for FY25 SVPP. Each award is three years (36 months) in duration for a maximum federal share of $500,000 per award.

The FY25 COPS SVPP provides funding to improve security at schools and on school grounds through evidence based school safety programs and technology. Receive up to 75% funding for a variety of school safety measures.

Applications will be submitted in a two-step process, each with its own deadline. The first deadline requires the submission of an SF-24 by June 18, 2025 at 4:59 PM EST and the second deadline is the submission of the entire application by June 26, 2025 at 4:59 PM EST.

The Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit is available for qualified AFV fueling property installed in qualified locations on or after January 1, 2023, and through December 31, 2032. A single item of 30C property is each charging port or fuel dispenser, as well as each energy storage property for electricity, hydrogen, natural gas, propane, E85, or biodiesel blends of at least 20% (B20+). Components and parts that are essential to the operation of the charging port or fuel dispenser, including labor costs for constructing and installing the property, are also eligible for the 30C credit. Businesses are eligible for a tax credit of:

  • 6% of the depreciable costs, up to $100,000 per item; or,
  • 30% of the depreciable costs, up to $100,000 per item, if the installation meets U.S. Department of
  • Labor prevailing wage and apprenticeship requirements.

Bulk Milk Grant

The Bulk Milk program provides grant packages to help schools transition from serving milk in single-serve containers to serving milk using bulk dispensers and reusable cups.

Schools and districts can apply for Bulk Milk grant packages. Grant packages provide nearly everything needed to transition from serving milk in single-use containers to serving it in bulk.

Grant packages includes a bulk milk dispenser, stand, reusable cups, dish racks, program and marketing materials, and technical assistance.

Bulk Milk grant cycles open as program funding is available.

2025 Grow Ohio Grant

The Grow Ohio Grant is funded through the 2022 State Agency Non-Competitive Farm to School Formula Grant awarded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).      

Applications are being accepted for the 2025 Grow Ohio Grant program. The Grow Ohio Grant is funded through the 2022 State Agency Non-Competitive Farm to School Formula Grant awarded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

Grants aim to support child nutrition program sponsors in providing innovative activities that create agricultural education opportunities for participating children through farm to school projects such as outdoor or indoor school gardening, hydroponics, collaborations with local food producers, and food literacy. All grant proposals must meet one or more of the following objective areas:

  • Agriculture Career Exploration
  • Local Producer Connections
  • Edible Gardens

Grant awards range from $5,000 – $40,000. Visit the Grow Ohio Grant webpage for more information. Applications close on May 28 at 11:59 p.m.

Carton Council Grant

Get Up to $5,000 for Your School’s Carton Recycling Program!

The Carton Council is offering grants of up to $5,000 to help K-12 schools in the U.S. and Canada establish, enhance or expand their carton recycling programs. This is your chance to enhance sustainability, reduce waste, and get your students involved!

Grant funds can be used to purchase sorting equipment or collection bins, create communications, print signage, establish a “green team,” and more!

Feed our Future School Equipment Cost-Share Program

Applications for the 2024-2025 FOF School Equipment Cost-Share Program are currently being accepted. Individual school buildings can be reimbursed up to a maximum of $2,000. School districts can be reimbursed a maximum of $4,000.

Feed Our Future (FOF) has a new opportunity to support a cost-share program for schools and school districts in Northeast Ohio. For over a decade, Feed Our Future has been working with schools to serve fresh, healthy, and local food through its farm to school initiative. This cost-share program allows FOF to support schools in purchasing items that will help them serve local foods. This cost-share program is intended to provide support to schools who have students with the greatest need, with a specific focus on schools that have high percentages of BIPOC students and/or economically disadvantaged students
